FAQ’s

That’s completely fine. You don’t need to know what to say, how counselling works or what you’re supposed to do.
We can take some time to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with, and go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
The first session is also a chance to get a sense of whether counselling - and working with me - feels right for you.
You’re not making a commitment by coming along, and it’s completely okay if you decide it isn’t the right fit or that you don’t want to continue.
-
I have experience supporting people with a wide range of concerns and life experiences, including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression and low mood, bereavement and grief, trauma, illness, low self-esteem, relationship and family difficulties, gender identity and sexuality, sexual abuse, loneliness, work-related stress, performance and confidence, and feeling stuck.
You don't need to have a specific diagnosis or know exactly what's wrong to come to counselling. We can start with whatever is bringing you to therapy and explore what you need together.
-
The first session is an opportunity for us to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with.
We can begin to explore what’s going on for you, what you might hope to get from counselling and how we might work together.
There’s no need to prepare anything in advance or know exactly what to say. The first session is also a chance for you to get a sense of what it’s like to work with me and decide whether it feels like the right fit for you.
-
Sessions are usually weekly, as this can provide a helpful rhythm and continuity to our work together.
However, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, and we can talk about what feels right for you depending on your circumstances and what you’re looking for from counselling.
-
Your therapy is your decision, and you can choose to stay for as long as you feel it is useful and helpful to you.
I usually recommend starting with around 10 sessions, which gives us enough time to build a relationship, explore what’s going on and give the therapy a chance to do its thing.
Some people feel they’ve got what they need after a few sessions, while others find longer-term therapy more helpful.
We can regularly check in together about how things are feeling and whether continuing feels right for you.
-
I offer a free, 15-minute introductory call, where you can ask questions and get a feel for whether we may be the right fit.
You can also book a one-off single session of counselling, or a longer Wellbeing MOT to explore things in more depth without committing to ongoing session.
